Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
A separate CVICU was established at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in 2001, and is directed by Dr. Steven Roth, who is a pediatric cardiologist. Two additional faculty members, Drs. Gail Wright and Karen Booth, also attend. It comprises a total of 12 beds. In this unit, all post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients are cared for, in an interdisciplinary environment that includes surgeons, cardiologists, critical care physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists. The CVICU is also a center for the implementation clinical research protocols.
